DAY 1: AMMAN

Arrive at Amman International Airport and transfer to your hotel | Settle in and meet up with your group in the evening.

Toledo Amman Hotel (or similar)  –  This 4-star hotel is situated in the heart of Amman, on the edge of the old city centre and within walking distance to the new downtown.

DAY 2: JERASH, THE DEAD SEA AND AMMAN

Take a guided tour of the ancient Greco-Roman ruins of Jerash – continuously occupied for 6500 years | Later, visit the Dead Sea and float in its salty, healing waters | Return to Amman for the evening. (BL)

DAY 3: AMMAN & AQABA

Visit the Citadel and Amphitheatre – a testament to Amman’s rich and diverse history. | Enjoy a walk downtown to visit the Jordan Museum | Drive to the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea | Take a swim in the warm waters and spend the night in Aqaba. (B)

DAY 4: AQABA AND WADI RUM

Your day of desert adventure begins with a short drive to Wadi Rum – one of the Middle East’s most spectacular natural environments | Walk, safari and ride a camel through the desert valley, imagining you’re Lawrence of Arabia | Spend the night at the luxurious Bedouin-style camp. (BD)

Sun City Bedouin Camp (or similar)  –  Experience luxury camping at its finest. These bedouin style tents boast panoramic views of Wadi Rum and luxurious interiors inspired by the desert. Star gaze, sample captivating local food and enjoy the stillness.

DAY 5: WADI RUM AND PETRA

Rise early and head into the dunes with our Bedouin guide| Drink Bedouin tea and learn about their culture | Strap yourself in for a desert 4WD ride | Head to Petra and enjoy an evening of free time. (B)

Petra Moon Hotel (or similar)  –  Stay right by the entrance to ancient Petra. Dine at one of the enchanting restaurants, followed by a blissful escape to a traditional Middle Eastern hammam for a rejuvenating experience.

DAY 6: PETRA

Take a guided tour through one of the world’s most magnificent sites: Petra | Marvel at the architectural wonders of the Rose City, Treasury building and other famed sites | Wander through the town’s shops and bazaar – or head back to your hotel to relax. (B)

DAY 7: PETRA, SHOBAK, DANA, MADABA AND AMMAN

After breakfast, drive back to Amman, stopping by many significant sites | Wander through the 12th Century Shoback Crusader Castle, perched on a rocky conical mountain | Explore the cliffside village of Dana – rejuvenated from new investment | Learn about Byzantine history at the market town of Madaba, where church mosaics tell ancient stories | Arrive in Amman and settle in for the night.  (B)

DAY 8: AMMAN AND CAIRO


Transfer to Amman airport and fly to Cairo | In Cairo meet the Egyptian guide and transfer to the hotel | Settle in with the remainder of day at leisure  (B)

DAY 9: SAQQARA AND GIZA

Take a guided tour of the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. Later, travel to Saqqara to see the famous Stepped Pyramid.  (B)

DAY 10: CAIRO AND OVERNIGHT TRAIN

Explore Egypt’s history at the world-famous Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo | Visit the Khan El Khalil Bazaar – where everything is for sale at a haggler’s price | Stop by Ibn Toulon Mosque and the Gayer Anderson Art Museum | Catch the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.  (BD)

Overnight sleeper train:  –  This adventurous, 9-hour ride is the best way to travel from Cairo to Luxor. Two sleep comfortably inside a compartment, with dinner and breakfast served onboard.

DAY 11: LUXOR

After an early breakfast on board, the train rolls into the Nile port city of Luxor| Be guided through the Karnak and Luxor Temples, two of the world’s most celebrated temple complexes | Board the Nile cruise boat – your home for the next four nights.  (BD)

Rise early and head into the Valley of the Kings | Wander through Tutankhamun’s tomb and three other royal tombs | Be guided through the ancient Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon | Begin your passage along the Nile and take in the desert landscape as you dine onboard.  (BLD)

DAY 13: EDFU, KOMOMBO AND NILE CRUISE

Continue your southward cruise along the Nile – with stops at the great temple complexes Edfu and Komombo | Enjoy a drink on board and take a dip in the swimming pool.  (BLD)

DAY 14: ASWAN

Arrive in Aswan and take a boat to Philae Temple, a marvel dedicated to the goddess Isis | Wonder at the engineering feat of the Aswan High Dam and enjoy a relaxing sail on a felucca – the traditional way to travel along the Nile River.  (BLD)

DAY 15: ABU SIMBEL AND ASWAN

Take a short flight to reach the iconic Abu Simbel | Soak up one of Egypt’s most memorable sights: the four colossal statues of Ramses guarding the Great Temple | Check in to a boutique hotel in a nearby Nubian village | Enjoy the local’s warm hospitality, traditional cuisine, and dancing!  (BD)

An economic lifeline for Egypt, it’s one of the most important waterways in the world – allowing cargo ships to pass from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea | Return to Cairo and your downtown hotel for the night.  (B)

DAY 17: EL ALAMEIN AND ALEXANDRIA

Take the desert road to Alexandria and stop at the Commonwealth War Graves at El Alamein. Pay your respect to the thousands of lives lost in the Western Desert campaigns of World War II.  (B)

DAY 18: ALEXANDRIA

Visit the remarkable Bibliotheca Alexandria – the modern rendition of the famed Alexandrina Library | Wander slowly through the Catacomb of Kom El Shuqqafa and the Al Montazah Palace and Gardens | Enjoy the panoramic view from the Quit Bay Fortress.  (B)
