In Muscat we visit the magnificent Sultan Qaboos  Mosque, the Bait al Zubair Museum and the historic quarter of Old Muscat. Inland we climb the spectacular Western Hajar mountains to historic Nizwa and the mudbrick town of Al Hamra. We view the giant Bahla Fort and Jabreen Castle which offers a fascinating insight into life in old Oman. We also enjoy a village stroll in picture perfect Misfat Al Abrayeen.

Reaching the Wahiba Sands we dine in Bedouin style and marvel at the beautiful desert sunset from our comfortable campsite. On the coast we discover the Ras Al Jinz turtle reserve and witness the age old craft of traditional Dhow boat building. Our final stop before Muscat is at the spectacularly deep Wadi Tiwi and the must-see Bimmah sinkhole.

A flight brings us to Amman in Jordan. We visit the ancient city of Jerash and later descend to the Dead Sea before driving to Aqaba on the Red Sea. Our next stop is Wadi Rum, one of the most spectacular desert valleys in the Middle East. Here we stay in a luxurious Bedouin style encampment, climb sand dunes, and enjoy a camel ride at sunset.

Further on is magnificent Petra, one of the most celebrated sites in the region. The view of the ancient Treasury  is breath taking. En-route back to Amman we stop at the Shobak Crusader castle and take a stroll through the ancient villages of Dana and Madaba.
